Table 3. Synchronisms: Israel to Judah

Column 5 has the years that elapsed for the Judean king, giving the synchronism to Judah provided by the court recorders of Israel. Although the court recorders would not have written things in this fashion, the dates they used correspond to those displayed here in Nisan/Tishri notation and their calculations correspond to those shown in column 5. By comparsion with column 4 and Table 2 (Judean kings), it will be seen that the court recorders of Israel always used an official starting year (a Tishri year) from Judah, and they were always exact in their calculation of the synchronism.

931nThe year beginning on the first of Nisan (a spring month) of 931 BC. Regnal years were reckoned from Nisan 1 in Assyria, Babylonia, and Israel.
931tThe year beginning on the first of Tishri of 931 BC. Tishri is a fall month, 6 months later than Nisan. Regnal years were reckoned from Tishri 1 in Judah. Sabbatical years started on Tishri 1. Jubilee years started on Tishri 10.
